A plethora of exciting activities await you year-round in the Minami-uonuma region. From picking fresh mountain vegetables in late spring and mountain biking in the summer to rice harvesting in autumn and skiing, snowboarding, and showshoeing in the winter, there is something for everyone. You may also want to time your visit to coincide with the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale, which is held once every three years in the neighboring city of Tokamachi from late July to early September.
Want to get to know the area better? Then why not join one of our seasonal walking tours? In the spring, you can join our wild plant expert in for a 30-minute jaunt up the hill from the inn to learn about and pick wild mountain vegetables.
In the winter, when the snow is thick, we offer short walking tours using wakanjiki, or traditional Japanese snowshoes. Ask our staff for details.
*Tours are cancelled in case of inclement weather.
If you would rather see the breathtaking mountain views on two wheels, we offer a first-come, first-served mountain bike tour limited to the four guests per day. The elevation of the starting point will depend on the melting of the snow, but the highest point (920 m) is typically accessible after mid-May. We will pack the bikes and drive you to the starting point, so there is no hiking involved.
